Sacred Procession

February 2 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm

Divine Parade: An Ode to Devotion and Unity

Enchanting Prabhas Procession: The Sacred Procession, an integral part of the Prabhala Teertham festivities, unfolds with the grace of divine. Leading the way are the revered Prabhas, intricate arch-shaped palanquins dedicated to Lord Shiva. These structures, adorned in the unique Konaseema style, create a mesmerizing mesh of bamboo, draped in luxurious silk fabric and embellished with baby pumpkins, rice grain hangings, torans, flowers, wooden and brass handicrafts, all crowned with the sacred Pasidi Kunda. The ambiance is filled with the enchanting sounds of bells, creating a symphony reminiscent of celestial chimes.

Toli Aarti: As the sacred notes of Shahnai echo and the coconut shatters, Toli Aarti unfolds—the first step in our divine odyssey. With devotion as our guide, we shoulder the divine Prabhas, honored by Lord Shiva’s trust. The procession begins—a sacred journey of unity, music, and divine grace.

Mythological Characters and the Torch Bearer Lead: The procession finds its youthful guardians in children dressed as mythological characters. At the forefront strides a torchbearer, traditionally a washerman, chosen for their association with cleanliness and purity. Their torch, known as the Kagada, illuminates the path, symbolizing the guiding light of devotion.

Symbolism of Shouldering Responsibility: Children, men, women, and the elderly alike join hands to carry the prabhas.  This collective participation signifies the unity in diversity that defines the spirit of Sarovar. The profound meaning embedded in the act of carrying the Prabhas on shoulders is a symbolic representation of shouldering responsibilities in the Lord’s divine mission. Residents willingly embrace this duty, signifying their commitment to contributing to the greater cosmic order.

Sacred Rituals Along the Way: At every block, the procession pauses for sacred rituals. An Aarti, a ceremonial offering of light, is performed, accompanied by the breaking of a coconut, symbolizing purity and spiritual blessings. The water is respectfully sprayed on the Lord’s path, a ritualistic gesture of sanctification.

Joyous Celebrations: Dandia and Dance: Every block becomes a stage for joyous celebrations. Residents express their happiness through traditional dance and rhythmic beats of dandia, syncopated to the beautiful tunes of the South Indian Karnatic Nadaswaram. These moments of jubilation reflect the profound connection between spirituality and communal joy.

A Tapestry of Faith and Festivity: In essence, the Sacred Procession is not merely an event; it’s a living tapestry that weaves together threads of faith, devotion, and collective celebration. Each step, each gesture, contributes to a shared journey of spiritual significance and communal joy, creating an unforgettable spectacle of unity and divine connection. This ancient tradition comes alive with the divine grace of Shiva and Shakthi.
